I am confused exactly how to lay out the Girl Scouts Brownie Journey Award Patch, anyone know?
My daughter is a first year Girl Scout Brownie. She is working on earning her Journey Award Patches (with the 3 keys and the lock). I am confused if this particular set is to be sewn on so they make a triangle, or each one next to another, making a line.

If you pictures, that would be nice, too!

What is a good craft to do with Brownie Girl Scouts?
I am a girl scout troop leader looking for a project to do with the girls for Thinking Day (International Cultures Day).

I have an excess of silk flowers, mostly roses, which I would like to use up.

The project must associate with a country.

I was thinking of putting the flowers on pens and making the country “England,” but England has already been taken, so I need a new idea.

    Thank you!

Any good volunteer ideas for Brownie Girl Scouts?
My daughter’s brownie girl scout troop is looking for good volunteer activities…any ideas? It should be something in the next month or so, around the holidays. I am thinking something to do with the hospital, nursing home, sick kids, but open to anything. Maybe something they make and bring, or something they raise money for and buy and donate, or ??? Thanks for your help!!!

    Brownie Scouts?
My daughter wants to join Brownies. Anyone have experience with their girls being involved in Brownies? What do they do? How often do they meet?

Here’s what I did with my girls for a Valentines Day project at their pre-school.
The task was that each child create their own Valentine box, so that the kids can put their own Valentine card into their classmates “mail box”

We took a child’s shoe box and glued silk flower petals all over the box. It was beautiful and the teacher loved it so much that at the end of the school year – we gave it to her filled with goodies.

Use the rose petals to cover something or use in a drawing, like Japan is famous for Cherry Blossoms.. can you fashion the rose petals to look like cherry blossoms?

or use the petals to simulate the scales on a Chinese Dragon (Chinese New Year is coming up).

how about snow? Can you dye them white(or bleach them) and use them to create the landscape of Antarctica, like a 3D drawing?

or create long flower lei’s like they have in India for special events?

    good luck!

Some good songs to teach to Brownie Girl Scouts?
We are planning on teaching them Dum Dum Dada and Chinese Resturants, any others you know? Make them not hard but not easy so kinda like medium speed. Thanks!

The website has a guide on how to place all the different patches and things:

The journey award patch is #5, I think.

I was a Girl Scout for 10 years. I started with Brownies and went all the way through juniors, cadets, seniors.

Brownies was a lot of fun and had a tremendous impact on my life. I made new friends and learned alot. Usually Brownies will meet about once a week, most often after school or on weekday evenings, about an hour or two depending on activities. Also, because she will be a brownie, there will be many opportunities for summer camps (girl scout camps are so fun). In our brownie troops, we did some homework (not alot) and worked on patches/badges. It was great because the girls all learn something, but also, they feel so accomplished in getting their patches.

If she stays with it as long as I did, it becomes a wonderful memory. We did the Silver and Gold Awards, which are the two highest honors for community service in the Girl Scouts.

I would sign her up for a year and see if she likes it. You renew your membership every year, so you can just choose not to continue if she no longer likes it. Also, local troops may let you sit in on one or two meetings to see what she thinks. :)

    Good Luck.
If you need any other information, I can get you all sorts of info.
